Please join Alameda Writers Group – Los Angeles on Saturday, February 6th when Jamie Reidy will talk about the differences between writing screenplays and prose, his journey from pharmaceutical sales rep to professional writer, and how to market yourself.

Jamie Reidy published his first book in March of 2005 (Andrews McMeel Publishing Co.). “HARD SELL: The Evolution of A Viagra Salesman,” a self-deprecating memoir, chronicles his five years at Pfizer and the craziness of selling Viagra. Scott Stuber is producing LOVE AND OTHER DRUGS for Fox 2000 and New Regency. Ed Zwick directed the shoot in late 2009, starring Jake Gyllenhaal as Jamie and co-starring Anne Hathaway. No, Jake did not have to shave his dreamy locks to play the role, since it’s the 27-year old Jamie, who had plenty of hair. But thanks for asking. The movie premieres Thanksgiving weekend.

When not blogging on Huffington Post about pointless topics, Jamie writes screenplays. He has been paid by Out of Pocket Films to rewrite one existing script. TONY APRIL: DANCE MACHINE follows a Dance Dance Revolution prodigy who gets his comeuppance and has to work his way back to the top. KARATE KID meets ZOOLANDER in the world of arcade game phenomenon DDR. Out of Pocket Films also commissioned Jamie to write DIG IT, a fun movie about a group of guys from the 909 who stumble into love and conflict in the sand. Think BREAKING AWAY meets Manhattan Beach’s annual Six-Man volleyball tournament.

Jamie has completed two other original screenplays, both of which have been optioned by production companies not named Out of Pocket Films. COVER STORY and GROOM: TBD. He has also recently self-published his second book. BACHELOR 101: Cooking + Cleaning = Closing is an idiot-proof cookbook and lifestyle guide for clueless single guys just like him.

A media darling, Jamie has appeared live on CNBC five times and CNN once. He has also been interviewed by Kai Rysdall on NPR’s Marketplace. Jamie lives in Manhattan Beach where he chases women much too young for him. Fortunately, they can’t run fast in platform sandals.
